Before the on-track action got underway for Round 4 of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU Asia Pacific Championship at Sugo Sportsland, there was plenty going on for the visitors.
First, there was setup for the bLU cRU village. As well as accommodating 20 race bikes, there were areas for repairs, rider coaches, management and PR personnel, as well as all important spaces for enjoying the healthy and delicious bento boxes that had been arranged for everyone. It was hard to imagine that everything would be dismantled and packed away with a few of hours of finishing Race 2.
Meanwhile, a tour was laid on to give the riders experience of the Miyagi region and Sendai, its famous first city. It was a real eye-opener for most of the riders, who were on their first ever visit to Japan.Along the way, they called in at the Yamaha Sports Plaza Sendai and sampled local food at Sugo Café. Finally, they enjoyed a track walk under the guidance of three of Asia’s best ever racers, Decha Kraisart,Yuki Ito and Ratthapong Wilairot.
Commenting on the day, Mr Takayuki Goto, Manager of the Administration and Planning Group for the Motor Sports Strategy Division of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., said “It was a great day for us and the riders. They were able to understand more about Yamaha in Japan, the local area and to familiarize themselves with Sugo Racing Course, which is one of the most challenging in our country, with its complex design and elevation changes. For us, it was good to have time out with the riders to get to know them away from the heat of competition. I wish them all great and safe racing for this weekend!
